New APP grad? Let us guide you.

You can apply for Novant Health’s advanced practice provider openings as a new graduate. Available opportunities depend on our current needs and position requirements. If you are finishing your degree soon, apply three to four months before you complete your program. This timing aligns with our hiring needs and allows time for credentialing before your potential start date.

Apply for positions based on what you're interested in and in which you have completed a rotation. Most hiring managers look for candidates who:
  • Have relevant experience, or at least a clinical rotation, within the posted specialty.
  • Show passion for the specialty or focus area.
When choosing positions, think about:
  • Do you prefer inpatient (hospital-based) care, outpatient (clinic-based) care, or a hybrid role?
  • Are you drawn to a certain specialty because of personal experiences? Or would you prefer broader experience with lots of different kinds of patients?
For example, if you’re interested in:
  • Acute care: You should have completed a rotation in a hospital or acute setting.
  • Outpatient family medicine: You should have completed a family or internal medicine rotation.
We recommend you:
  • Focus your applications on specialties you are truly interested in.
  • Avoid applying across multiple unrelated specialties at the same time.

  • Credentialing for a new graduate usually takes 85 to 120 days.
  • We do not start credentialing until you have:
    • Passed your exam.
    • Applied for your North Carolina license.
  • Once your license is approved, you can apply for your Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) number.

Your resume should include:
  • Dates of your education
  • Any relevant employment
  • Clinical rotations you completed while enrolled in school
  • Expected program completion date, if you are still enrolled
Tailor your cover letter to highlight your relevant rotations and passion for the specialty.
